OUR STORY

In 1961, the faithful members of Cottage Hill Baptist Church recognized the need for Christian education in the Mobile community. That fall, Cottage Hill Baptist School, consisting of a kindergarten and first grade, opened its doors. In that moment, the foundation for what would eventually become Cottage Hill Christian Academy was laid. With additional grades added each year, the school continued to blossom until the present campus on Cottage Hill Road could no longer meet the needs of a growing student body.

Dr. Charles V. Lang led the way as superintendent in 1997, and it was his vision that launched Cottage Hill on the path to new successes. After a generous donation of forty acres off Creekwood Drive, we broke ground on a new high school campus, and in 1999, Cottage Hill Christian Academy welcomed its first graduating class to begin their senior year. A new high school created new needs - academic programs, athletic fields, and expanded staff - which God faithfully provided. From its humble beginnings to a thriving K-12, Cottage Hill Christian Academy has remained faithful to the vision cast decades before.

WHY FORWARD?

Recently, Cottage Hill Christian Academy has traveled a steady trajectory upward. It’s been a period of consistent growth considering the opportunities and achievements our students have realized. However, as we look to the future, we recognize that our current facilities have placed boundaries on the ability for us to continue to reach our full potential. Preparing our students for their future is a key part of our mission, and providing the best possible facilities to make their educational environment comfortable and safe is a must. Just as our students are growing and thriving, our facilities must grow with them. We are at a crucial point in the life of our school where we must ask, are we satisfied to stay within these limitations or are we ready to break through the walls and move forward? We believe that now is the time!

FORWARD Together

Moving FORWARD, families can be assured that students are safe and secure on the reimagined church campus. A fully enclosed campus will offer the highest level of safety and security for our students, and modern classrooms and extracurricular learning spaces will spark students’ excitement to learn and inspire creativity. From high school lunch waves to homecoming, from alumni events to football games, the entire school community will enjoy the enhanced gathering space in the west campus courtyard, and the completion of west campus fencing will add an important layer of extra security. We are poised to move and ready to take the first step. Our campaign will be conducted in partnership with Cottage Hill Baptist Church. With God’s blessing, we intend to complete Phase One fundraising by December 2028 and project construction to begin during that time frame. Will you join us?

FAQs

The name FORWARD reflects our commitment to move beyond the limitations of our current facilities and continue advancing our mission to strengthen our faith, our family community, and prepare students for the future God has planned for them.

CHBC will be coming alongside Cottage Hill Christian Academy in the fundraising efforts and conducting their own capital campaign to help with the enhancement of the 5000 building.

The FORWARD commitment card is where you and your family indicate what you intend to give over the next 3 years. This card allows the team to steward resources more efficiently as we are able to better discern what will happen and when. There are several ways to give: the church website or app, check, stock, and non-cash assets. For specific questions about giving methods, please contact Selena Dressler (dresslers@chbss.org).

We plan to begin work on some of the projects in 2027. The more funds we are able to receive early, the faster we can move forward. This will minimize the inconvenience time of construction as we will be able to move forward, faster.

Yes, just bring your commitment card to either school office or mail it to the West Campus at: Cottage Hill Christian Academy 7355 Creekwood Dr. Mobile, AL 36695.
