OUR STORY
In 1961, the faithful members of Cottage Hill Baptist Church recognized the need for Christian education in the Mobile community. That fall, Cottage Hill Baptist School, consisting of a kindergarten and first grade, opened its doors. In that moment, the foundation for what would eventually become Cottage Hill Christian Academy was laid. With additional grades added each year, the school continued to blossom until the present campus on Cottage Hill Road could no longer meet the needs of a growing student body.
Dr. Charles V. Lang led the way as superintendent in 1997, and it was his vision that launched Cottage Hill on the path to new successes. After a generous donation of forty acres off Creekwood Drive, we broke ground on a new high school campus, and in 1999, Cottage Hill Christian Academy welcomed its first graduating class to begin their senior year. A new high school created new needs - academic programs, athletic fields, and expanded staff. From its humble beginnings to a thriving K-12, Cottage Hill Christian Academy has remained faithful to the vision cast decades before.

WHY FORWARD?
Cottage Hill Christian Academy is experiencing consistent growth, with students thriving in their academics, athletics, fine arts, and spiritual formation. Yet, as enrollment grows and programs expand, our facilities have reached their limits. The layout of our church campus classrooms is inefficient. Hallways and movement patterns are not optimal for student safety and teacher collaboration. We lack dedicated spaces for specialized classes like performing arts and STEM, and our outdoor spaces could better serve both students and families. FORWARD is our answer to these challenges. It’s more than a construction plan, it’s a commitment to providing:
- Safe, secure learning environments that give families peace of mind.
- Modern, flexible classrooms that inspire creativity and collaboration.
- Specialized spaces for arts, technology, science, and athletics.
- Welcoming gathering spaces for school and community events.
Now is the time to act. Our students’ needs are growing, and so must we.

The Vision
Through the FORWARD campaign, we will transform our campus in four carefully planned phases, ensuring each improvement meets the long-term needs of our students.
Phase 1
- Church Campus
- Remodel of the 5000 Building – Expanding from 6 to 18 classrooms, grouping grade levels for collaboration, and adding enclosed hallways for enhanced security.
- Covered Drive-Thru and Commons Entrance – An “airport-style” canopy will provide a safe, weather-protected drop-off and pick-up zone, reducing congestion and increasing safety.
- West Campus
- Security fencing along the wood line and entrance to Charles V. Lang Stadium, plus courtyard upgrades including pavilion extensions, artificial turf, and additional seating.
Future Phases Include:
- Remodel of the 4000 and 6000 Buildings – Coordinated updates to create fully enclosed corridors, additional classrooms, and secure access to all spaces.
- Specialized Classrooms – Dedicated areas for performing arts, athletic locker rooms, fine arts, and STEM-focused learning labs.
- Library, Science, and Technology Spaces – Modernized facilities designed to spark curiosity and innovation.
- Main Entry Atrium and Plaza – A distinct, welcoming entrance that clearly defines the school from the church and offers safe, secure gathering space.

Forward Commitment Card
Our chca families will be receiving a commitment card in the mail. This card will be a helpful tool to guide us as we pray through and plan our giving for the next three years. It also provides a way to communicate your giving plan to the leadership of the school. We will come together on September 25 to pledge our commitments to this initiative together!
