Have you ever been hurt by someone else’s words? Or has someone said something to you that encouraged you or made you feel better about yourself? Most of us have experienced the power that someone’s words have had in our own lives. In fact, God’s Word tells us that words have power for good or bad. In Proverbs 18:21 we read, “Life and death are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.” The Message puts it this way, “Words kill, words give life; they’re either poison or fruit – you choose.”

Our middle school student council officers have been inspired to help our student body be mindful of the words we use everyday. Our goal is that here at Cottage Hill, we would take every opportunity to speak hope, speak encouragement, speak love – SPEAK LIFE – into those around us. This initiative was kicked off on Thursday November 6th during all chapel services and was led by student leadership on both campuses.

To help us remember to SPEAK LIFE, each student (K2-12th) and teacher on both campuses received a SPEAK LIFE bracelet at chapel on Thursday. Whenever we see the bracelet, we are reminded to use our words to build others up, not to tear them down. It is our desire to honor God by speaking life to the world around us so that through us, they may see God’s love.

Join our preschool, elementary, middle and high school students as we SPEAK LIFE each day and be known for His love in our school, homes and communities.
