The CHCA Lower School hosted "Super Reading" week November 6-10, 2017.  It was a huge success. This year we focused on The Power of Reading: Finding the Hero Within as we taught our students about the outcomes of effective reading skills.  We also tied in our Biblical perspective and established a love of reading scripture. A biblical story about a hero was read during announcements and the below scriptures were shared prior to guests reading in classrooms each day.

Monday 11/6 (Gideon)

K2-5th: “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.  For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.” John 3:16-17

Tuesday 11/7 (Joshua)

K2-K5: “Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy.” Matthew 5:7

1st – 5th: “Repay no one evil for evil, but give thought to do what is honorable in the sight of all. If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all. Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.” To the contrary, “if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals on his head.” Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.” Romans 12:17-21

Wednesday 11/8 (Moses)

K2-5th: “Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.” John 15:13

Thursday 11/9 (Jesus)

K2-5th: “Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.” Ephesians 4:32

Friday 11/10 (Abraham)

K2-5th: “Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger; for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God.” James 1:19-2

Thursday, November 9th was Super Reader Night. CHCA families joined us from 5:30–7:30 PM for a night of fun family fellowship as we focused on childhood literacy. Families (students, parents, grandparents, and friends) were able to explore and discover the power of reading as they journied around campus to hear new and exciting stories. Guest readers and special classroom activities that will provided special journeys for our Super Readers to experience. Our fall bookfair was also open in the library.
